EMTA acknowledges phone problems to Tioga County office

MANSFIELD (June 27, 2012) – An Endless Mountains Transportation Authority representative has stated there have been numerous reports of customers experiencing problems when attempting to call the EMTA base in Mansfield, Route 15.

According reports, phone calls to EMTA’s (Tioga County) toll-free number, 1-866-242-3484, has the line going dead, extended rings with no answers, or difficulty hearing on either incoming or outgoing phone line.

EMTA’s Information Technology Department has contacted Frontier, the phone carrier for that number, and Frontiers has reported it is a call-routing problem from various third-party long distance carriers into rural areas such as Mansfield.

It is asked if consumers continue to experiences difficulties with EMTA’s toll-free Tioga County office number, they are to follow the steps suggested by the FCC:

How do I report these problems?

  • If you live in a rural area:
    • Whenever possible, you should encourage the person trying to call you to report details of the problem to his telephone service provider. That provider should be best able to locate the source of the problem and fix it.
    • You should also provide the same information to your own local phone company so it may work with the caller's provider to isolate the problem.

What information do I need to report these problems?

  1. The date and time the call(s) were made or attempted.
  2. The calling and called telephone numbers.

EMTA’s other office number in Tioga County, which is not toll-free, is: (570) 659-5330.

EMTA apologizes in advance for any inconvenience consumers may be experiencing.
